Five months from now, hundreds of fans lucky enough to have a comic book show in their town will line up to get their hands on one of these Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) gold titles. FCBD happens on the first Saturday in May every year, bringing with it a feeling of early Christmas for readers across the globe. The comic book selection is split into different tiers and each book store decides how to spread the available stock among shopgoers. The comics in the gold tier this year include titles from major publishing houses such as DC Entertainment, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Archie Comics, BOOM! Studios, :01 Second Books, Joe Books, Oni Press, Titan Comics and VIZ Media.
The full roster of titles includes 70 books and will be announced next week, but out of those, the following 12 fall under the gold tier. Generally, comic book stores will give away one gold book and two or three books from the silver tier. This year’s selection looks pretty hot and that’s even without counting Marvel and DC’s secret titles, which will be revealed closer to May 5th.
Here are the covers for your golden books so you can start thinking about what to get.

The books this year look to be quite fun, but it’s always a bummer having to pick just one out of so many. That being said, maybe some of these will show up in Spanish language for the Día del Comic Gratis, Spain’s own version of the holiday which happens the very next Saturday after this.
